The Ultimate Guide to Liquid Enhancements

Liquid boosters are well known for adding extra flavour and attracting more fish towards your swim. Some liquids also have active ingredients which can create fizzing and clouds making fish curious. Liquid enhancements are available in many different forms including dense liquids that stay on the bottom and oils which will slowly rise and are PVA friendly.

There's a debate within the angling community whether or not these liquid attractors will land you more fish on the bank or not. Although in many situations it has been proven to increase the success rate especially in the winter months when it can be harder to get a bite.

HOW DO I USE LIQUIDS?

There are different ways liquid boosters can be used including glugs, soaks and dips. Glugging is essentially just soaking baits in a liquid so they absorb the extra attraction. When glugging baits it's important to note that it can decrease their buoyancy, so if you're glugging pop ups then it’s important to make sure you test its buoyancy to see if the rig still works before you cast it out.

Adding liquid boosters to PVA bags is also a popular way of adding attraction to your swim. When deciding to buy a liquid for bags make sure its stated PVA friendly which means it isn't water based and wont melt the bag before its casted. Liquids can be simply drizzled into the bag before it's tied if it is a solid bag or some anglers like to tie it first then use a syringe to add the liquid. For mesh bags, simply drizzling the liquid over the bag after it's tied will work best.

FLAVOURS AND COLOURS

There's a huge range of flavours and coloured liquids on the market today. The main split between them being either natural or artificial ingredients and whether they are sweet or smelly.

The natural liquids have ingredients drawn from natural and edible foods which are packed full of amino acids. The fish are able to recognise the scent of amino acids and are able to tell that the bait is edible. Natural liquids work great for adding extra attraction to any bait and can be used at higher doses than artificial ones.

On the other hand, artificial flavoured liquids are typically created from a range of chemicals and designed to copy the taste and smell of foods. These are usually unique flavours which can make fish curious, however artificial flavours are typically really strong so a small dose will go a long way.

Liquids have a variety of colours ranging from more natural colours which match the bottom to more vibrant colours which can increase the fish's curiosity. Typically like baits, both vibrant and natural colours are great all year round but in the colder months vibrant colours can have the edge over more dull colours.

The Korda Goo range has been around for years now and still a popular liquid attraction. The range features a wide variety of natural and artificial flavours and colours to enhance baits and attract more fish. The Goo works great for most species, especially carp both small and large.
