Greys Xlerate Abbreviated Carp Rod
Greys is a fishing tackle manufacturer that covers all areas, whether you're thinking of getting into the sport from a cold start or looking around for the perfect rod when you think you've reached the top of your discipline. Wherever you start in the Greys range of angling gear, you can rest easy that Greys boffins have thought long and hard about the components and how they function.
The Greys Xlerate Abbreviated Carp Rod is most definitely at the premium end of the scale. In fact, this is pitched as providing Greys's 'most advanced carp rod action to date'. Exciting! Let's have a look at the features
The carbon fibre used in the substance of Xlerate Abbreviated Carp Rods is rated at 1k. What's that then? Raw carbon fibre is rated according to how many fibres it has per bundle, with 1k denoting that there are 1,000 fibres per tow. This is the CF equivalent of high-quality silk, providing for a lighter and suppler weave. Higher numbers refer to weaves that have more fibres and are bulkier with less finesse. This base fabric is then stiffened with resins to increase its modulus. In this rod, Greys have gone further and incorporated chemical giant 3M's Powerlux technology, which introduces tiny nano-particles to fill the natural gaps in the fabric. The result is a rod with power and accuracy due to reliable stiffness but one that has an incredibly fluent bending curve for playing hooked fish. The blank is finish with Carbon Armour to produce a slick-looking rod whose good looks will last.
A carbon fibre Fuji reel seat is included for longevity and reliability and the guide rings are made from a hybrid design of corrosion-resistant and hard-wearing stainless steel and titanium. To tie in with the sleek blank, the guides have a black finish which looks like it means business. An anti-frap tip ring is angled to help prevent the line from cracking off when casting. The guide rings have 50mm diameters to ease casting with big pit reels and heavy lines. It also comes with a fashionable and comfortable abbreviated EVA handle.
As part of your purchase, you'll get a suite of extras including a line clip, an EVA stopper, an engraved butt cap, and neoprene tip and butt protectors. What else could a seriously-minded carp angler want? Well, a choice of length for the Greys Xlerate Abbreviated Carp Rod is available, between a 13ft rod length with a test curve of 3.5lb and three 12ft rods with test curves of 3.0lb, 3.25lb, and 3.5lbs. Choose the best weapon for your favourite swim!
